Siskiyou County R/C'ers Guest Pilot Policy
Guest pilots are always welcome to fly at one of the Siskiyou County R/C'ers flying fields. This Guest Pilot Policy is intended to provide all of the essential information that will allow our club members and visiting R/C pilots to have fun and to enjoy a safe flying environment.
Permission to fly for a day as a guest pilot at one of our fields will be given based on certain criteria. Guest pilots must be familiar with our club’s operating rules and pertinent FAA and AMA rules. They must also affix to their aircraft, their FAA drone registration number before flying. Factors such as the prospective guest pilot’s skill level, size and weight of their aircraft, type of aircraft and how many pilots plan to fly that day at a given flying field will be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to give permission. Nevertheless, Siskiyou County R/C'ers are usually able to accommodate a guest R/C pilot for the day.
Visiting R/C pilots who have been given permission to fly at one of the club’s flying fields must be supervised by a Siskiyou County R/C'ers club member to ensure that they are flying in accordance with all applicable FAA Rules for Model Aircraft, AMA rules, and Siskiyou County R/C’ers club operating/safety rules. Further, guest pilots must be current members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. It is the supervising club member's responsibility to verify that the guest pilot's AMA Membership is current. This can be done easily by entering their AMA number and last name into the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Verify Membership page.
At the Siskiyou County Airport there is an electric security gate that requires an entrance code. Guest pilots who would like to fly at the County Airport must arrange with a Siskiyou County R/C'ers club member to meet them at the Airport entrance security gate. Because the Airport Gate Access Code cannot be given to guest pilots, a Siskiyou County R/C'ers club member must key in the code for the guest. The guest pilot will then be escorted to a designated parking area and to a location from which to fly. Guest pilots at the Siskiyou County Airport must also be shown the airport’s R/C flying boundaries (Exhibit A)
If a Siskiyou County R/C'ers club member sees a guest pilot failing to observe all applicable rules, it is the club member’s responsibility to remind the guest pilot of them. If the guest pilot continues to conduct himself in an unsafe manner, he will be asked to cease his flying field activities. Depending on the circumstances, he may be asked to leave the flying field. If a guest pilot was asked to leave the Siskiyou County Airport, he must be escorted back to the entrance gate.
Thank you for taking the time to read this policy. Please contact us if you would like to fly as a guest R/C pilot. Happy Flying!
